I am an assistant research scientist at the Public Policy Research Institute (PPRI) at Texas A&M University and a research fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) based in Bonn, Germany.
Previously I was the technical director at Timberlake Consultants and before that I was an Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics at The American University of Sharjah (2007 to 2014). I earned a PhD in Economics from Texas A&M University in 2007.
My primary research interest is labor economics with an emphasis on migration and remittances. I also work on the effects of social networks on different aspects of the economy. Most of my research has focused on the Middle East and North Africa region with a focus on the Gulf countries.
